Job Summary

As an X-Ray Technician, commonly referred to as a radiologic technologist or radiographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging examinations on patients using X-ray equipment. Your primary objective will be to ensure the production of high-quality radiographic images while maintaining patient safety and adhering to established protocols and guidelines. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to contribute to accurate diagnoses and effective patient care.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform Diagnostic Imaging: Operate X-ray equipment to produce diagnostic images of patients' internal structures as prescribed by physicians.
  • Patient Care: Communicate and interact with patients to ensure their comfort and cooperation during procedures. Explain the procedure, answer questions, and address concerns.
  • Positioning and Equipment Setup: Position patients correctly and adjust imaging equipment to obtain optimal images. Ensure proper radiation protection measures are in place for both patients and you.
  • Image Quality Assurance: Evaluate the technical quality of images and make adjustments as necessary to obtain clear and accurate results. Recognize and troubleshoot technical issues or artifacts that may affect image quality.
  • Radiation Safety: Adhere to radiation safety protocols and guidelines to minimize radiation exposure to patients, yourself, and other staff members. Follow appropriate procedures for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient information, examination results, and other relevant data in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on X-ray equipment. Report malfunctions or deficiencies to the appropriate personnel and assist with troubleshooting.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication and coordination of patient care. Provide assistance during specialized procedures, such as fluoroscopy or computed tomography (CT) scans, if applicable.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on advancements in radiologic technology and maintain relevant certifications and licenses. Participate in continuing education activities and training programs to enhance knowledge and skills.

Job Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
  • Valid state licensure as an X-ray Technician.
  • Knowledge of radiographic techniques, equipment operation, and radiation safety protocols.
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Proficient in positioning patients and adjusting imaging equipment for various exams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and colleagues.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to position patients, maneuver equipment, and perform related tasks.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
